Ode to the Sunshine

This one goes out to my bestest friend who has left for a mission to Rochester, NY for 18 months. I will miss you dearly...

The Sunshine has left.

It is no more.

Only Blue Sky here,

For 17 months more.

Zions is on pause.

Hiking is too.

Virgin daquiri's are gone,

Just to name a few.

No more sprinklers

And dancing in the rain,

Or throwing rocks

To relieve the pain.

Boo misses Belle

And the four-wheeling.

Something I miss most

Is the silly singing.

Both on our missions

For a little while.

For the stories to be told

Will make us sit back and smile.

So just like the Fall,

I'll sit back and wait.

For Sunshine to come back,

To see our Fates.

My Love

Well... It's been awhile. I've been way to busy to write anything on here for awhile. A lot has happened. I got married, went to Hawaii on my honeymoon, went to CA for an open house, visited Yosemite, went camping, stayed in a covered wagon, went canyoneering, set up house, the list goes on and on. I've been able to do the most exciting things with my best friend! I always thought I would stay single and develop a good life and career until Brian came along. Now things have changed dramatically and I couldn't be happier. He's filled me and my life full of joy and I thank him for making my dreams come true.

Suspense

25 days, 11 hours, and 24 min until April 30, 2011 at 10:30am. That is how much time I have to wait until I get married! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. We are over the hump. Less than a month left. There's so much to look forward to! First of all I am am marrying my best friend, my love for all Eternity. Then there is honeymooning in Hawaii, California for a week, organizing 2 homes, trips to the cabin, camping, canyoneering, rock climbing, road trips, cuddling with my Bear, and so much more. Oh, work and school are in there somewhere.

There's so much to look forward to the suspense is starting to kill me.

Can I make it?!

P.S. Thanks to my AWESOME family, especially my mom, for keeping me sane and distracted. I don't know what I'd do without all of their patience, help, and love. They are honestly the best family in the world, I would be eloping if it wasn't for them!

Bling Ring

Date: January 10th, 2011

Time: 7pm

Place: Rock Canyon

It all started out as a regular Monday. School, homework, the usual. But tonight ended up being a very special night...

Nothing was out of the norm as me and Brian started hiking up the trail in the snow with freezing temperatures. Trying not to slip and fall, Brian wanted to take a certain trail so we went up the left fork until we came to a bridge. Now, it was dark and there on the bridge was someone's backpack and other items. Brian went to see what it was and I told him to not touch it (twice) because it wasn't ours, but he went for it anyways. He crouched down and picked up something and handed it to me. IT being red roses. I was a little confused as I stood there with the roses in my hand until he turned on I Cross My Heart by George Strait. This was it. We had talked about it and had even set a date to go ring shopping, but this?! I hadn't even suspected this would happen without the ring.

As the music was playing in the background Brian got down on one knee (in the snow) and said, "I love you forever. I want want you for my wife. Will you marry me?" My heart was beating out of my chest and tears were starting to form in my eyes. He then said it wouldn't be complete without a ring and pulled out a ginormous, fake diamond ring the size of a quarter and placed in on my finger. I, of course, said yes (still a little dumb struck) and kissed my fiancee! He then went to the backpack and pulled out a thermos of hot cocoa and a blanket. We sat there wrapped in a blanket, sipping hot cocoa under the moon and stars while over looking the valley and the temple.

After we were done, we played George a couple more times while we danced, laughed, and kissed. I still couldn't believe it! But we didn't last much longer with the bitter wind and cold so we headed back down the trail where our futures couldn't have looked better...

Other than celebrating with strawberry daquiri's and bacon, almost giving my grandmother a heart attack after seeing my ring, or even my best friends dad running up the stairs with a shot gun, the rest of the night was uneventful while Brian was on the phone and we were out sharing our joyful news with everyone. Soon we will be Brian and Codi Grimsman... I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.

I cross my heart

And promise to

Give all I've got to give

To make all your dreams come true

In all the world

You'll never find

A love as true

As mine.

I love you Brian...
